A total of 13 school dropouts were re-admitted to the Lower Primary School in Chinniga cluster, Mudigere, on Tuesday.

This was due to the drive initiated by Cluster Resource Person Kiran Kumar. The school was closed last year as only two students were admitted and it was merged with a nearby school.

However, by the efforts of Kiran Kumar, information was collected on the children of labourers in various coffee plantations of Chinniga limit. The children were re-admitted after convincing their parents.

The children had remained out of the school after they migrated to the district.

New life

With the admission of these children, the school which was on the verge of closure, has got a new lease of life.

Kiran Kumar said that education is the right of children and the parents are bound to provide primary education to children. “If any children are left out, School Development and Monitoring Committee members or teachers can identify them and help them to be re-admitted to school,” he said.

Headmaster Basavaraj said it was the duty of the teachers, SDMC and elected representatives to save government schools. “The schools provide quality education and other facilities,” he stated.

Assistant Teacher Rangaswamy, Pavitra and SDMC members were present.
