TN  to give reply on drug-laced chocolates

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), on Thursday, issued notices to Tamil Nadu government to give an explanation on the seizure of chocolates containing banned drugs across the State.

In the last two weeks, Tamil Nadu police have unearthed the sales of chocolates containing banned drugs, including ganja, across the State, and have arrested more than 500 people. The police took action after a ninth standard student in Chennai fell ill after consuming chocolate bought from a shop in the RK Nagar area in Chennai.

Also a huge quantity of toffees was seized from a godown in the Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu, and that a huge quantity of such toffees was also found abandoned near a burial ground in Kovilpatti area.
