Water level in Almatti, KRS dams rising

 Heavy rains in Konkan region and southern Maharashtra pushed up water levels in River Krishna and its tributaries on Thursday. A total of 13 bridges and barrages remained submerged in the river water.


Belagavi, Chikodi, Khanapur and Hukkeri recorded above normal rainfall in the past 24 hours.

The water discharge from Maharashtra through Rajapur barrage into River Krishna increased to 1.59 lakh cusecs on Thursday.

The water storage in Almatti dam reached 50.72 tmc ft against its capacity of 123.06 tmc ft, with an inflow of 1,75,582 cusecs. The level in the reservoir increased by six feet to 1,691.43 feet. Eighteen tmc ft of water has flown into the reservoir in a single day.

Intermittent rains lashed parts of Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada districts. Napoklu, Bhagamandala and Talacauvery received intermittent rains. It rained since morning in Mangaluru. There was a break for some time and towards evening, it started raining again.

The water level in Harangi reservoir stood at 2,857.08 feet (maximum level 2,859 feet).
The inflow into the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam in Mandya district stood at 17,230 cusecs and the outflow 8,935 cusecs. The water level in the reservoir was 96.2 feet against a maximum capacity of 124.80 ft.

Moderate rains lashed Shivamogga district. Hosanagar received a good spell of rain till afternoon. The water level in the Linganamakki dam rose to 1,776.50 feet against the maximum level of 1,819 feet. The inflow was 12,327 cusecs.
