Meteorological department predicts rains over weekend

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall over the weekend across the state.

According to IMD officials, light to moderate rain is likely to occur across Karnataka over the next two days, which would become heavy to very heavy in the Western Ghats and coastal Karnataka.

There will also be isolated heavy rainfall over other parts of the state July 16 onwards, including south interior Karnataka. L Ramesh Babu, director incharge, IMD Bengaluru, said because of the formation of a circulation over the Odisha coast, thundershowers are expected.

There is also a trough from north Kerala coast to Karnataka coast, which will bring more rains. He said that the strong winds blowing across the state have weakened. The formation of the cumulo-nimbus clouds has increased. These are signs of rainfall in the coming days.
