Auto majors' sales zoom in February

Maruti Suzuki reported its highest ever monthly sales in February 2010 at 96,650 units, a jump of 22.05 per cent compared to 79,190 units in the same month last year. However, Maruti Suzuki’s once bread-and-butter model M800 fell by 22.01 per cent at 3,178 units compared to 4,075 units in February 2009.

General Motors India sales rose two-fold to 11,111 units, against 4,921 units in the same month last year.

 Similarly, Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported a two-fold jump in sales at 5,990 units against 2,976 units.

Bajaj Auto, in the two-wheeler category clocked a 78.03 per cent jump in motorcycle sales at 2,34,623 units compared with 1,31,785 units in the same month of 2009, while it reported 58.81 per cent rise in three-wheeler sales at 33,968 units as against 21,389 units during the comparable month of last year. However, Maruti’s M800 fell by 22.01 per cent at 3,178 units compared to 4,075 units in 2009.
