Savour the fusion feast

Last Updated 15 July 2016, 18:44 IST

While there are many brilliant restaurants in the UB City premises, ‘Farzi Cafe’ is the latest addition to the list of exotic places that one can head to.

The ambience is fresh, inviting and exciting. As soon as you walk in, you’ll realise that there are different sections in the restaurant that one can choose to sit in. Each of them makes you feel like it has a story to tell. Once you’ve picked your table, a walk in an interesting culinary world starts.

Every dish that comes to the table showcases theatre on a plate. The amuse bouche has a smoky, misty element emanating from it before you devour it.

There are also plenty of appetisers for one to choose from. The ‘Dal chawal arancini with achar papad chutney’ is an interesting option for one to start the experience. The ‘Mini Raj kachori with crisp okra salad and chutney foam’ is definitely an experience on its own as one is treated with a number of flavours you wouldn’t generally think of having in a ‘kachori’.

The ‘Tempura fried prawns with nimboo mirch air’ is light, succulent and refreshing. But the ‘Bhatti ka murg with brown onion raita’ isn’t as exciting as the other dishes — it’s very ordinary in flavour.

For pork lovers, the ‘Delhi belly tikka with roasted russet apples and murraba glaze’ is a must-try. The meat is cooked very well and gives you all the flavours you want and more in each bite.

The main course is also quite a rollercoaster ride. The dishes play with your eyes and mind as they do not always taste the way they look. The ‘Andhra chilli beef and curry leaf with pink pepper appam’, for instance, may sound very ordinary, but when it’s presented to you, you’ll realise that the ‘appam’ is grey in colour. It’s made with edible charcoal, giving the ‘appam’ a whole new flavour, that one wouldn’t imagine consuming otherwise.

The ‘Mutton irachi pepper fry with Malabari parantha’ is also an option that one can go for.

To end the experience, one must try their unique dessert options. They have interesting choices like ‘Parle-G cheesecake’, ‘Bailey’s lollipop’ and ‘Elneer payasam popsicles’. But to end your meal on a bang, savour the dessert called ‘Milky Way’.

The chef brings it to the table and demonstrates it to each guest. It shows what the universe looked like after the big bang. It’s very well-recommended for those who want to try different varieties of desserts on one platter.

Wash down the meal with exotic cocktails like ‘Farzi apple foamintini’, ‘Kala jamun’, ‘Kolavery’, ‘Three musketeers’ and ‘Chai-pani’. Each concoction has flavours that give an interesting twist to your palate.  ‘Farzi Cafe’ is located at Level 2, UB City, Vittal Mallya Road. For reservations, call 7259400900.
