JOIN USA 25-year-old man committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train at Bellandur near Baiyappanahalli on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Santosh, a private firm employee. He committed suicide over a dispute about his sister’s marriage, said the police.
“Santosh’s sister was in love with a man and wanted to marry him. Her parents were against her decision saying the man belonged to a different caste. She approached the local police along with her lover on Thursday and sought help to get married. We advised her to return to her parents’ house and settle the matter in consultation with elders in the family,” said the police. She, however, decided against going home.
Santosh was upset that his sister’s decision brought disrespect to the family and committed suicide, said the police. A few local residents noticed the body near the track and informed the police. There was no death note, the police said.
