Speaking to press persons here, recently, Revenue Minister Karunakara Reddy said that after DCs’ meeting he would review the progress in each district. The meeting would discuss necessary measures to tackle rain havoc during the monsoon period.

“Earlier the review meeting were held at division-level. This year the government has decided to hold review meetings at district-level”, he said.

He said that the government would take a decision on declaring Lambani tandas and Gollarahattis as revenue villages at the meeting.

He said that collection of revenue under stamps and registration would increase as fee for registration of apartments had been reduced.

Europe delegation

Daniele Smadja, head of the Delegation of the European Commission in India, met Revenue Minister and requested the government to reduce the state taxes levied on European wine.

She urged the minister to do away with additional taxes for imported wine. “No need to have separate taxes for indigenous and imported wine. The government should have uniform taxes”, she said. The minister said that taxes on wine would not come under his purview and he would discuss the demand with the minister concerned.

Smadja said “I met Karunakara Reddy because he is a powerful minister in the cabinet”.
