Major shake-up in BBMP on the cards
A major shake-up in BBMP, involving 1,280 employees and officers, is in the offing. A source in the civic body said the reshuffle was planned in view of their stay in one department, ward, division and zone for many years.

The BBMP has also filed a caveat in the High Court to prevent these officers and employees from getting stay on the transfer orders. The civil service rules do not allow any officer or employee to stay at one place for more than three years. Those coming to BBMP on deputation too need to be repatriated. However, all such rules were given a go-by.

Corporators had often raised the matter of staffers overstaying in one location for a longer time in the council meetings. The demand for a major shake-up grew louder after the double payment scam in the recent past. Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad had asked BBMP Special Commissioner V Rashmi to prepare the list of officers overstaying in one place for more than three years. The source claimed that the list would shortly be sent to the state government for its final nod.
