JOIN USA woman died and her brother sustained serious injuries when the scooter they were riding got crushed between a road-divider and a car near south Delhi’s INA market on Friday morning.
They were rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre where the woman succumbed to her injuries, while being operated upon. The condition of the man is said to be stable. The accident took place around 4 am when Rinku, 38, was taking his sister Geetanjali, 40, to his house in east Azad Nagar on his scooter.
She had sustained serious injuries on her head which proved fatal,” said a police officer.
Rinku has also sustained serious injuries. However, he is said to be out of danger now, the police said.
The car-driver identified as Rajesh, 26, sustained minor injuries. The police have registered a case against him. Geetanjali lives with her husband and children in INA, said the police.
According to the police, they were riding behind a water tanker when suddenly the tanker slowed down due to a police picket ahead.
Avoid collision
Seeing the tanker slowing down, Rinku, also applied brakes in a bid to avoid collision with the tanker. “A Maruti Swift Dzire, driven by one Rajesh was trailing the scooty on which the brother-sister duo was riding,” said a police officer.
“The car driver who was driving the car on high speed rammed his car on the scooty from behind and dragged it to a road divider,” said the police.
“Due to the impact of the collision, the scooty got crushed between the car and a road divider,” said a police officer.
An Eemergency Response Vehicle was sent to the spot and policemen retrieved both the injured persons from the mangled bike.
“She had sustained serious injuries on her head which proved fatal,” said a police officer.
Rinku has also sustained serious injuries however he is said to be out of danger now, police said.
The car driver identified as Rajesh, 26, sustained minor injuries. The police have registered a case against him and he has been arrested.
