District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj said that the newly introduced Bapuji Seva Kendras at the gram panchayat-level would be a blessing in guise for the layman to avail various benefits of the government schemes, designated under the Revenue and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Departments.
Speaking after inaugurating the district-level Janaspandana meet here on Tuesday, the minister said that the Congress-led state government is determined to ensure better governance, especially reaching out to the needs of the poor.
He added that there are nine hoblis in the district. The hobli-level janaspandana meet would be held to make people realise the various programmes initiated by the government and help them avail the benefits. The Bapuji Seva Kendras would offer 48 services under the Revenue department, while 43 services would be offered by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department.
At the grassroots level
The services would be available at the grassroots level. The gram panchayat would deliver the services. The applications or the grievances would be updated and the follow-up would be done under the special drive called, e-spandana.
Reiterating that the government should exist only for the service of the people, the minister called upon the officials to lend corrupt free and transparent service to the public.
He added that earlier to his tenure there were mere 20 per cent BPL card holders in the district, where the percentage has gone up to 80 percent. Only in Udupi assembly constituency, there are nearly 12,000 BPL card holders. The schemes like Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya has helped the poor immensely, he said.
Elaborating over the pro-people governance by the government, the minister added that the RTCs are amended in lakh. Besides, the amount offered to the housing schemes is hiked from Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.20 lakh.
The district is in the forefront in all the human index parameters, especially in the health index.
The district can be compared to any of the areas in the US and in Europe, he added.
