Two held in medical entrance paper leak

The government on Thursday confirmed that the medical Eamcet-II entrance examination question paper was leaked, with the Telangana CID arresting two people for their role in the case. The duo has been identified as Vishnudhan alias Vishnuvardhan and Thirumal alias Thirumal Rao.

In a statement on Thursday, the CID said that during the course of the investigation some students confirmed that the question papers in two sets with 160 questions each were leaked.

The investigation also revealed that students appearing for the Engineering, Agriculture, Medical Common Entrance Test (Eamcet-II) from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were taken to camps set up in at least five cities two-three days prior to the actual test and were given mock tests with the leaked question papers and correct answers. The CID has identified some brokers and sub-brokers from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and Bengaluru for their involvement in the scam.

“They (Vishnudhan and Rao) contacted around 25 students and their parents and took them to Bengaluru where one Rajgopal Reddy arranged the practice sessions, and sent them back in time for the Eamcet test,” the CID statement said.

The development will jeopardise the prospects of 2,650 aspirants, who have qualified for counseling for MBBS and BDS courses. Around 60,000 students appeared for the Eamcet-II held in Telangana and Andhra.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University here conducted the Telangana State Eamcet-II (medical) test on July 9 and declared the results on July 13. Soon, rumours spread that the question paper was leaked and those who paid huge amounts secured the top ranks.
