SBI launches exclusive service for affluent

Last Updated 31 July 2016, 18:49 IST

Never before were public sector banks so blatant in favouring the rich. Now, with the launch of  ‘SBI Exclusif’, India’s largest PSU bank will virtually deploy an officer for each of its rich customers, free of cost.

The criterion, among others, is that the individual must have a salary of Rs 2 lakh and more per month or have deposits of Rs 30 lakh and above in the account at any given time. It also includes those individuals who have availed loans of over Rs 1 crore or more from the bank.

The SBI Exclusif customers will never have to visit the bank in person. The bank will enquire about their requirements on a regular basis, and there will be no extra charge for this service. The facility has been launched in Delhi and will cover 37 centres across the country by March next year.

“It aims to provide a comprehensive and best-in-class banking experience to the affluent customers. The SBI Exclusif customers will have access to a dedicated Relationship Manager, supported by a team of investment experts, to take care of all their banking and investment needs through various channels — in person, a first of its kind ‘e-Wealth’ channel (remotely via a call or video conversation) or through future ready digital (internet banking/mobile) channels,” a senior bank official said.

The service will also be provided to corporates, trusts, temples, the army and other organisations with surplus funds.

As part of the wealth management service, it will also offer investment advice on shares, debts, government securities and other products.

In January, the SBI had launched the facility on a pilot basis in Bengaluru.
