Chahal stars in rain-hit affair

Leggie bags five-wicket haul

Yuzvendra Chahal’s performance of 5/78 ensured that Haryana Cricket Association took a slender first innings lead to grab three points against KSCA President’s XI in the Dr (Capt) K Thimmappaiah memorial all-India invitational tournament at the IAF ground on Monday.

Chahal’s effort aided Haryana in restricting President’s XI to 195 all out in 82.5 overs. Mir Kaunain Abbas top-scored with 43 while Liyan Khan (39) and J Suchith (38) played gritty knocks to add some respectability to the total.

In response, Haryana could only muster 211 all out in 57.3 overs, but it was enough to hand them a 16-run lead. Himanshu Rana (46) and Rahul Tewatia (33) were the major contributors for the visitors.

For President’s XI, Suchith (4/64) and KC Cariappa (3/58) shone with the ball but could not prevent Haryana from taking the lead.
