The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is flooded with complaints related to blockage of sewer lines and overflowing manholes after many roads were inundated in different parts of the city following floods.

BWSSB control room operators said they were getting more complaints from Kodichikkanahalli, Madiwala and Central Silk Board in Southeast Bengaluru which was flooded last week after three lakes overflowed. Most of them have complained about the overflowing manholes and non-availability of drinking water, they said. Kemparamaiah, BWSSB Engineer-in-chief, told Deccan Herald that the board usually receives about 1,000 complaints related to different issues. However, the number of calls have gone up by about 200 in the last two weeks.

“This is an annual phenomenon. We are prepared for it and more number of jetting machines have been deployed in the low-lying areas. There were complaints of blockage of sewer lines as well as overflowing of manholes,” he said. Kemparamaiah mentioned that they have been able to resume supply of Cauvery water to South East Bengaluru.

To register complaints, call 1916, 080 22238888 or send images through WhatsApp to 8762228888.
