Monsoon revives, brings glee to farmers

Rains returned to many parts of the state on Monday, after a brief break. The monsoon revived in Belagavi district after a gap of over a week with the entire district receiving heavy to mild showers on Monday. The rains brought smiles back on the faces of farmers as the dry spell had been worrying them.

Scattered rainfall lashed Dakshina Kannada district on Monday. In the last 24 hours, the district received an average of 10.1 mm rainfall.

Kodagu district received scanty rainfall in the last 24 hours. Virajpet taluk received 11.22 mm rainfall, while Somwarpet taluk received 9.5 mm. The water level in Harangi reservoir stood at 2,857.64 feet. The inflow of water was 2,234 cusecs, while 1,700 cusecs water is released into the river.

Moderate showers were reported in some taluks of Uttara Kannada district. Rains were reported in the entire Belagavi district. There were reports of rain in Raichur district for two hours, including the city.  Thirthahalli, Hosanagar, Bhadravathi and Sagar in Shivamogga district received good spell of rain throughout the day. Many schoolchildren and working people were drenched on their way to their destinations. Thirthahalli received heavy rain in the evening. The intensity of rain was high in the district. Intermittent rains lashed Shivamogga, Shikaripur and Sorab taluks. The water level in Linganamakki dam rose to 1,780.90 feet against the maximum level of 1,819 feet. The inflow of water was 5,452 cusecs.
