Godrej Interio aims at bigger pie

Last Updated 02 August 2016, 18:23 IST

The furniture and interior solutions arm of Godrej Group — Interio is looking to scale its current 18% share in the market to 23% in the coming two years.

Talking about increasing business prospects in the sector, which is estimated at Rs 62,000 crore, Godrej Interio Head (Integrated Marketing) Bedraj Tripathy, said: “We are seeing good development with many unorganised players moving out and creating space for organised players. This could result in increasing business in the organised sector.”

With the entry of organised giants like Ikea in India, Godrej Interio has found that the organised sector has received a 2-3% push, in a market that comprises 85-90% unorganised players.

While consolidation in the organised sector is a positive sign for the company, Tripathy mentioned that it does not look at acquisitions as an opportunity. “The company has acquired a foam manufacturing unit in Haridwar, which manufactures sofas. But, for us, acquisition is not an opportunity,” he said.
