Scattered rains in Malnad, coastal districts

Scattered rains were reported in some parts of the state on Tuesday. Khanapur taluk in Belagavi district received heavy downpour for the second consecutive day, while there was respite from rain in the rest of the district.

The Western Ghats region in Khanapur taluk received maximum rain. Water inflow from Rajapur barrage in Maharashtra into River Krishna was 16,469 cusecs, while from River Doodhganga into River Krishna, it was 7,040 cusecs.

Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts experienced scanty rainfall. In the last 24 hours, Dakshina Kannada district received an average of 10.2 mm rainfall.

Average rainfall
Kodagu district had an average of 9.06 mm rainfall. The water level in Harangi reservoir was 2,857.62 feet. The inflow of water was 2,857 cusecs, while 1,700 cusecs water was released into the river.

Rain has receded in Uttara Kannada district. While there was moderate rain in Siddapura, there was drizzle in Bhatkal and intermittent rain in Haliyal.

Moderate to heavy rains lashed the Malnad region. Thirthahalli, Hosanagar, Bhadravathi and Sagar received a good spell of rains intermittently. The rains that started at around 8 am in Bhadravathi lashed for nearly 20 minutes.

Intermittent rains
Many schoolchildren and working people were drenched in the rain while travelling to their destinations. Thirthahalli received heavy rain in the evening. Intermittent rains lashed Shivamogga, Shikaripur and Sorab. Water level in Linganamakki dam rose to 1,781.30 feet against the maximum level of 1,819 feet. The inflow of water was 8,130 cusecs.
