Son-in-law stabs woman to death

A 47-year-old woman who intervened to stop a fight between daughter and son-in-law, was stabbed to death at Sunkadakatte in Kamakshipalya on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Manjula, a resident of Basaweshwaranagar. The accused, Nagaraj Nayak, a private company employee, is absconding.

Around five years ago, Nayak was married to Manjula’s daughter, Sumalatha. The couple have a two-year-old son.

Nayak suspected his wife of having an extra marital affair and used to fight often with her. On Tuesday too, Nayak started fighting with his wife. Manjula, on being informed by her daughter went to her house. In the melee, Nayak pushed Manjula away and tried to stab his wife. But Manjula came in between and got stabbed, said the police.

Sumalatha raised an alarm and the neighbours rushed Manjula to a nearby private hospital, where she was declared brought dead, added the police.

A case has been registered in Kamakshipalya police station and efforts are on to trace Nayak.
