A 28-year-old man was buried alive for trying to force a married woman to have a physical relationship with him. The Jayanagar police arrested a couple and three of their friends.

According to the police, the arrested have been identified as Prathap, a resident of Srinagar, his wife Chandrakala, a native of Mandya, Deepak T, Narasimhamurthy and Venkatesh, natives of Ramanagaram district. They murdered K M Yogesh, a 28, a resident of Jayanagar and a private company employee.

A few years ago, Yogesh had got into a physical relationship with Chandrakala. Recently, Chandrakala started ignoring Yogesh and fell in love with Prathap. A couple of months ago, Chandrakala and Prathap got married.

Yogesh, who learnt about their wedding, started blackmailing Chandrakala and forced her to have a physical relationship with him, said the police.

Chandrakala informed Prathap about Yogesh’s harassment. Prathap decided to eliminate Yogesh and informed his friends.

On July 19, around 10 am, Yogesh was going on his bike to work when Prathap and his friends, posing as policemen, stopped him and asked him to accompany them for questioning in connection with a case. When Yogesh refused to go with them, he was bundled into a vehicle and taken to Mountain Dew Sports Club in Athimagere near Magadi, owned by Prathap’s father, added the police.

Missing plaint lodged
They beat up Yogesh and locked him up in a room and on the same day, buried him alive. After Yogesh’s relatives lodged a missing complaint in Jayanagar, police checked his call records and traced Chandrakala.

She revealed everything to the police and all the suspects were arrested.
On Monday, the body was exhumed and sent for post-mortem, police said.
