At least 24 BSP leaders are in a spot over use of objectionable words against expelled BJP leader Daya Shankar Singh’s wife and daughter.

According to police officials here, BSP state unit president Ram Achal Rajbhar, leaders Naushad Ali and Atar Singh were among about the 24 leaders who were seen raising objectionable slogans during the protest demonstration held here to protest Singh’s remarks on BSP supremo Mayawati.

“A video clipping clearly shows Rajbhar, Ali and Atar Singh using foul language against Daya Shankar Singh’s wife and her minor daughter,” said a senior police official.
The official said BSP general secretary Naseemuddin Siddique, whose name figured in the FIR registered by the police in this regard, was however not seen raising slogans. The FIR also mentioned the name of Mayawati.

The video had been provided to the police by Swati Singh, who has demanded stern action against the BSP leaders. “We are examining some other videos as well to see if there are more leaders making derogatory remarks,” the official said.

He also said that the BSP leaders would be booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. They have already been booked under different sections of the IPC.

Sources said police might send notices to the BSP leaders to explain their remarks before deciding about arresting them.
