A 35-year-old software engineer was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his flat next to ITPL in Kadugodi on Friday night.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sohan Haldar, a native of New Alipore, West Bengal. He was working in a private company in ITPL. Haldar was residing on fourth floor of Prestige Shantiniketan apartment for the past four months along with three other flatmates. He had come to the city around six months ago.

On Friday night, Haldar’s friends went to check on him as he had not gone to work since Wednesday. They also informed his flatmates on Friday night and opened Haldar’s bedroom where he was found lying on the floor face down. They checked his pulse and found him dead, said the police.

His friends alerted the Kadugodi police who later shifted the body for post-mortem. The cause of the death is yet to be ascertained. The police are waiting for the post-mortem report. There were no external injuries on the body.

A total of four persons, including Haldar, stay in the four bedroom flat. They, however, did not interact much with each other due to different work schedules. Haldar’s flatmates, along with his colleagues, are being questioned by the police. “For now, nothing can be ruled out. The CCTV footage and the entry and exit details entered in the register at the gate are being scrutinised to check who had visited him last,’’ mentioned the police.

A case has been registered at the Kadugodi police station.
