Even as the case of Congress leader K Marigowda intimidating Deputy Commissioner C Shikha is still fresh in memory, another Congress leader is in the news for assaulting a city businessman, over a property issue.

S Ravishankar, the city unit president of the party along with his sisters Vijayalakshmi and Dr Sujatha, is said to have assaulted businessman M U Nagaprasad, a resident of Vishveshwaranagar on July 27. The incident came to light only after the victim lodged a complaint with the Vidyaranyapuram police against Ravishankar and others.

According to the complaint, Nagaprasad had purchased a site from Vijayalakshmi in Vijayanagar 4th stage for Rs 35 lakh and documents were transferred to his name on March 30. In July, Nagaprasad - owing to a financial crisis - sold the site to one Ramesh for Rs 40 lakh. Learning about the sale, Vijayalakshmi started exerting pressure on Nagaprasad to return the site to her, police said. When Nagaprasad refused to return the site as it was already sold to another person, Ravishankar, Vijayalakshmi and Sujata along with others attacked Nagaprasad at his shop selling surgical materials, in Vidyaranyapuram. Following the attack, Nagaprasad was forced to sign on a stamp paper and 11 blank cheques. The attackers also took away his Audi car, according to the police complaint.

The incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed in the shop. The footage clearly shows Ravishankar and Vijayalakshmi assaulting Nagaprasad.
