Kodagu gets Rs 25 cr special package for roads

No other schemes for the dist this budget

It may be recalled last year, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had announced Rs 25 crore special package. Of which, Rs 10 crore was given to PWD and Rs 15 crore for ZP engineering division. Rs 10 crore earmarked for ZP engineering division and Rs 5 crore to PWD respectively have been released, said Executive Engineer Ravikumar.

Kodagu gets rain for six months. In spite of repairing the roads, the rain spoils roads within two months. As a result, Dr D M Nanjundappa Report had recommended the government to set up special fund for the development of Kodagu roads.

The roads in the district were in deplorable condition. As a result, Rs 25 crore announced in the last budget were earmarked for the development of roads in the district. With the announcement of another special package of Rs 25 crore, the people of the district heaved a sigh of relief, hoping better future for the district.

Apart from Rs 25 crore, the budget has not announced any additional schemes for the district.

The budget has not touched even permanent measures to solve wild elephant menace, tree right ownership, hill allowance for the government employees of the district, additional funds for the completion of RTO office.
