Last Updated 05 March 2010, 18:12 IST

Hampi stands to get a theme park, which will showcase the traditions of the Vijayanagara empire while Sringeri will be provided Rs 5 crore to develop roads and infrastructure there.

Major move
A major move is the permission given to industry to purchase five acres of agricultural land at 100 selected tourist centres in the State for construction of hotels.
Those showing interest would be provided concessional loan at an interest rate of 10 per cent through Karnataka State Finance Corporation. Such enterprises will also be given VAT exemption for a period of 3 years.

A top official said he would be able to assess the allocation for the sector only after the specific amount allotted to different tourist spots are spelt out in the detailed copy, which would be given to various departments shortly.
