JD(S) MLA trying to defame Cong over S M Krishna Layout: KPCC member

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) member H K Mahesh, on Saturday, alleged that Janata Dal (Secular) MLA H S Prakash is trying to defame the Congress party with misleading statements on S M Krishna Layout, in the city.

Addressing reporters, here, Mahesh said, the MLA is spreading rumours about the government and about S M Krishna Layout. “The MLA is trying to mislead the people by misquoting the District Minister A Manju that the government has released Rs 70 crore for S M Krishna Layout. But, it is is far from the truth. The minister had said the amount was collected from the people and it is not government grants,” he said.

Mahesh said, Prakash has not spent MLA grants released by the government on development works. The government provides Rs 3 crore for each MLA and Prakash has misused the funds, he alleged.

The KPCC member said, the layout is a dream project of the state government. “As many as 423 acres of land has been acquired for the layout and the plan is to develop sites at a cost of Rs 292 crore, he said.

He said, the authorities have received 9,500 applications for sites and Rs 52 crore application fee has been collected. In addition, Hassan Development Authority has sanctioned Rs 25 crore for the layout. The sites will be distributed in the month of September, he added. Councillor C T Kumar, Yashwanth, Thamlapur, Ganesh and Aslam were present.
