The seventh edition of the contemporary art festival, ‘Art Bengaluru’, has begun at UB City. The 10-day festival will go on till August 28, hosting more than 30 artists and 150 artworks.

Entitled ‘Yes Bank Art Bengaluru 2016’, the festival is presented by The Collection — UB City and Sublime Galleria, in association with Prestige Group. This year’s edition is aimed at a wider audience and not limited to art and design lovers.

Its goal is to get people talking about the role of art in resolving the challenges the society faces today. One will find celebrated international and national artists coming together under one roof, screening of world cinema at the open-air amphitheatre, creative workshops for all age groups, talks by reputed artists and performances by global musicians.

Graffiti artist from Paris, Marko93, represented by Alliance Française, has worked on creating a graffiti wall at the entrance of UB City and several other exhibits inside the mall.

Reputed senior artist from Bengaluru, S G Vasudev, is presenting a small-form abstract show of oil paintings on canvas entitled ‘Achala-2016’ at Sublime Galleria. Subodh Kerkar, founder of Museum of Goa, has a large number of exhibits including paintings, installations and sculptures.

There will be many more art pieces spread across UB City throughout the festival for visitors to enjoy. Interesting and interactive events will be lined up on each day.

A Canon photography workshop for adults by Ankit Singh, one for children by Suryarshi Mitra and a light painting workshop by Marko93 are the highlights for this Sunday.

The festival also has other fascinating events like a tea-pulling workshop, cocktail mixology session and Caveo workshops, including organic farming, paper quilling, baking lessons, pencil sketching, origami, zentangle, live pottery, dry pastel art, flower arrangement and charcoal sketching.
