Corporations, boards to be reconstituted soon

The process would begin after the conclusion of the ongoing budget session of the State legislature, party State President K S Eshwarappa told media persons here on Saturday.

The party would obtain resignations of all the chairmen, directors and members of the boards and corporations who were appointed a year ago after the BJP government came in to existence in the State.

“Districts that do not have adequate ministerial representation will have to be given more representation in boards. We will have to give due weightage to all the castes, creeds and regions of the State in government bodies,” Eshwarappa said.

Apart from the chairmen of boards and corporations, about 1,500 directors/members to these bodies will also be nominated afresh, he said.

Conventions organised

In order to galvanise the party in the wake of crucial Gram Panchayat and co-operative body elections, divisional level conventions of prominent leaders, workers, office-bearers and elected representatives were being organised, Eshwarappa said.

Conventions have already been held at Udupi and Bangalore and Gulbarga convention was being held on Saturday. On Sunday, a similar exercise will be held in Hubli.

The State BJP chief said the party had grown during the tenure of D V Sadanand Gowda, with the membership increasing from 7.5 lakh to 27 lakh.

Voting booth level committees would also be formed throughout the State.
