<p>Sleeper class passengers boarding trains at the Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) railway station in the city can now order takeaway bedrolls through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) portal.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Only confirmed ticket passengers can avail the facility by paying Rs 140 for two-bed sheets and a pillow and Rs 110 for just a blanket. <br /><br />B Ramesh, deputy general manager, IRCTC, Bengaluru, told DH that passengers can choose either both by paying a total of Rs 250 or purchase any one.<br /><br />The facility will be available from Monday. Bengaluru will be among the five railway stations chosen for the pilot scheme. <br /><br />The service will also available in Chennai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.<br /><br />Presently, bedrolls are provided only for air-conditioned classes as the ticket fare includes the cost of the bedrolls. With this scheme, passengers travelling in sleeper class can book their bedroll kit either online or at the food counters run by the IRCTC.<br /><br />About the scheme<br /><br />Explaining the scheme, Ramesh said passengers have to book five hours before the departure of the train. Passengers are given two options - either collect their order from the food counter or have it delivered at their seat.<br /><br />He said that based on the feedback, the scheme would be extended to other important stations like Mysuru, Mangaluru and Hubballi.<br /><br /> The facility will be launched by Sanjiv Agarwal, divisional railway manager, Bengaluru Division, on Monday.</p>
