Legislator rues lack of market for Stree Shakti products

Speaking at a function here on Saturday to mark International Women’s Day , the legislator said that the government has been providing financial aid to Stree Shakti Sanghas on a large scale and they should put the money for constructive use.

 Lamenting that no efforts have been made to provide market for the products of Stree Shakti Sanghas, the MLA said that steps would be taken to provide market for the products in the town in the coming days.

He disclosed that Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board has received proposals for setting up textile park, garments and other industries in 250 acres of land near Kudumalakunte in the taluk.

 Steps would be taken to clear the proposals that would generate employment for 10,000 people. The MLA said that women should achieve self-reliance by empowering themselves financially, socially and politically.  He revealed that a sum of Rs five lakh has been released to develop the road in front of Stree Shakti Bhavan.

Shivashankara Reddy inaugurated the Stree Shakti Bhavan and shopping stalls constructed at a cost of Rs 15 lakh.

Taluk Panchayat vice-president Prakash Reddy, member B G Venugopala Reddy, Child Development Programme Officer Usha and other officers were present.
