Bringing tantalising sauces like North Africa’s charmoula, Morocco’s harissa, Latin American chimichurri, Thailand’s satay, Mexican chipotle and South African piri piri is Hard Rock Café’s new menu ‘Smoke, Fire and Spice’.

Concentrating on a range of speciality sauces, the menu offers a variety of ethnic street flavours — which draws its inspiration from — spices, seasonings and sauces of popular street foods found around the world including Asia, Africa and Latin America.

“The consumers in India have become extremely receptive to international flavours and have developed a great fondness towards it,” says Naveen Painuli, GM (operations and guest experience).

While some of the new range of cocktails like ‘Triple Threat’, a blend of three rums, grenadine and grog mix mellowed with orange juice, and ‘Scorpion’, a blend of rums, brandy and fruit juices with almonds are quite strong, ‘Sangria Rosa’ with rose wine and ‘Shocking Shandy’ with Bacardi rum are mild.

Priced at Rs 545, the veg and non-veg platter comprise sauces like piri piri, chipotle, satay and chimichurri. One is also given an option to choose ingredients — cottage cheese or chicken or prawn. Served with naan bread, sesame slaw, shredded cheese and roasted vegetables on the side, ‘Asian Chicken Chipotle’ was a pick that we found nicely cooked and juicy as compared to the ones with harissa, piri piri and satay. If one is into spicy food, harissa will give an all out spice kick with a hint of caraway and cumin.

While ‘Cottage Cheese with Chimichurri’ was bland, the harissa flavour reminded us of our very own paneer tikkas. The new menu is available at Delhi and Gurgaon outlets till September 30.
