Last Updated 26 August 2016, 20:44 IST

Women corporators representing Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency protested and lashed out at the atrocity being meted out to them. They accused Rajarajeshwari Nagar MLA Munirathna and his supporters of interfering in their work and attacking them.

BJP councillors staged a protest during the council meeting demanding that the Mayor intervene and seek justice for the women councillors of Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency. JP Park ward councillor Mamatha Vasudev, who earlier had filed a complaint at Yeshwantpur police station accusing that she was attacked by Congress leader Sunanda, said that she is being harassed for the past one year.

“I want the Mayor to take action against this. We are not able to complete ward works due to interference from Congress party workers,” she said.

BJP party leader Padmanabha Reddy urged the Mayor to handover all the works undertaken at Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency to the CBI. He added: “A councillor should not face any difficulty. The cases filed against Mamatha by Congress workers should be withdrawn.”

Laggere ward councillor Manjula Narayanaswamy, who also represents Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency, said that she is also unable to work efficiently and that cases had been filed against her too.

Similarly, Asha Suresh, representing HMT ward of Rajarajeshwari Nagar, said that about 12 cases has been filed against her. She added: “Doing rounds to police station has become my daily routine. Mayor has to do something about this.”

Mayor Manjunatha Reddy said he would soon chair a meeting with the MLA, the ward councillors and the problems would be sorted out.
