2 held for stealing diamonds

Two persons including a juvenile have been arrested in connection with Wednesday’s theft of diamonds worth Rs 2 crore from the car of a commission agent in east Delhi, the police said on Sunday.

Stolen jewellery along with motor cycle and other equipments  used in committing the offence were recovered from their possession.

On August 31 diamond dealer Vijay Gupta was robbed of diamonds worth Rs. two crore when he got out of his car to look for a mechanic to fix the punctured tyre.

Two men came and broke the window of the car and took a bag full of diamond jewellery when Gupta was not near his car.   Police had prepared a sketch of robbers based on Gupta's memory which was used in their investigation. Police arrested Vinay, a resident of JJ camp Madangir. His accomplice, a juvenile was apprehended and sent to judicial custody, said police.

Vinay disclosed that he along with his juvenile friend was on a motor cycle near Karkardooma Court when they saw Gupta going in his car with a bag kept on the seat and they started following him. When Gupta reached Karkari More red light, he punctured the rear tyre of Gupta’s car.
