'Open A Door to Israel' at MG Road Metro station

Last Updated 07 September 2016, 20:44 IST
Soon, you can open a door at the MG Road Metro station and experience Israel on the other side. Play the role of a DJ for the Israelis or click a selfie with them. All this, with just a touch of a screen.

Israel is not just a desert, there are serene beaches and more. ‘Open A Door To Israel’ is an  endeavour of Israel to present its vibrant and vivacious face to the world.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Zavi Apfelbaum, deputy director, Public Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel said that this event was being organised to strengthen relationships with India. The programme is organised for the first time in India, she said.

“We understood that when people were asked about Israel, all they could picturise was war and the military. Our country has a lively side that ought to be portrayed. This is an attempt to showcase that,” she added.

Visitors could take a walk along the setup at the MG Road Metro station and open any of the nine ‘Curiosity Doors’. For instance, knock on one and have a peek into the everyday living of an average Israeli family.

Visitors would be given 30 minutes to walk through the nine doors where each door represents one of Israel’s brand values. Behind each door is a large LED screen with an interactive video that visitors can use.

The facility would give a glimpse into night life, agriculture, the beaches and more. Besides, one could click selfies, connect with people in Israel and also play their National Game. The Doors to Israel will be open to public between September 9 and 25.
Entry is free.
