Water level in Mettur dam nears 80 ft

 Farmers in Tamil Nadu continue to cheer as the water level at the Mettur dam almost touched 80-feet mark on Sunday evening with Karnataka releasing the Cauvery water.

With the water flow at Biligundlu, the entry point in Tamil Nadu, already touching 16,000 cusecs, the Mettur reservoir continues to get more than 16,000 cusecs water  water and its level rose to over 79.8 feet on Sunday.

A senior official of Water Resources Department, a wing of PWD department, told DH that the inflow at the Mettur reservoir was just about 9,000 cusecs on Friday. 

“However, the inflow touched 16,500 cusecs on Sunday morning", the official said. The official said the information about the inflow had been communicated to Supervisory Committee in New Delhi.
