The police have detained a few people for questioning in connection with the murder of a woman and her daughter-in-law in Vasanthnagar on Monday. A senior police officer said, “We have made a list of people who frequent the house and they are being detained for questioning.

The CCTV footage is also being examined. The call record details of mobile phones of the two deceased are also being scrutinised. It is suspected that someone known to the family has committed the crime over a personal issue.”

Santoshi Bai, 58 and her daughter-in-law Latha Dinesh, 38, were found murdered with their throats slit in their house. Santoshi Bai’s husband Sampath Raj and son Dinesh are also being questioned. They informed the police that two youths they had employed had quit recently.

The police are searching for the youths who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, said a police officer. The police said that neighbours informed them that several people would visit the house to pawn their jewels for money. All possible angles are being looked into, police said.
