ED, HDFC Bank told to file objections to UBHL petition

The High Court on Tuesday directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and HDFC Bank to file their statement of objections and submit all documents pertaining to the petition filed by United Breweries Holding Limited (UBHL) seeking direction to the two to allow it to withdraw the rental income from UB City, credited into the bank account.

UBHL has approached the court stating that the oral direction by the ED to HDFC Bank not to allow UBHL to withdraw the rental income of Rs 5.5 crore from UB City, has affected its employees. UBHL has said that the rental income is normally used for paying salaries to 110 employees and, for the past three months, they have not been allowed to withdraw money from the account. Justice A S Bopanna directed ED and HDFC Bank to file their objections and adjourned the hearing.
