No 'Nemmadi' from these Kendras, MLAs allege

A host of BJP MLAs led by Appachu Ranjan demanded the Government shutdown the computerised Nemmadi Kendras across the State as they have failed to serve the public. Commenting on the inefficiency of these centres, Appachu Ranjan and M P Kumaraswamy said it takes at least six months to get a RTC updated.

Dr Sharan Prakash Patil (Cong) said in his constituency, Sedam, the Kendras were found issuing fake caste certificates.

They urged the Government itself should run the centres scrapping the contract with the private companies.

Replying on behalf of the Chief Minister, PWD Minister C M Udasi said the 3i Infotech which was selected through tender in 2006, has improved the services by adopting many changes. Stating that the centres issue 43 certificates he said the people are making best use of the services of Kendras.

Udasi also said the Nemmadi telecentres are functioning in 799 hoblis.

Power supply to the centres in rural areas has been improved by providing UPS. The centres which have heavy workload have been provided with generators. And, the centres which are located in backward places have been given solar panels. District-level co-ordination committees have been formed to supervise the functioning of the telecentres, he said.
