JOIN USThe accidental firing took place at Litan area when Koteshwar, Works minister K Ranjit, and Tribal Development minister D D Thaisi were sitting in the back seat of a car while being driven to Imphal from Ukhrul on March 6 night.
The chief minister told the assembly yesterday that the Tribal Development minister wanted to put his licensed gun on the seat beside him as he was feeling uncomfortable.
He said the Works minister "accidentally touched" the trigger of the gun, in which a bullet had remained in the chamber though the magazine had been removed, and it went off injuring the advocate general.
"It was just an accidental firing, but if anyone is found guilty, the law will take its own course," he said.
Koteshwar, who was operated on the night of the shooting with a bullet being removed from his chest, was recovering in a hospital and was stated to be stable.
