Tribute to women

NDTV Imagine has unveiled two riveting shows ‘Kashi’ and ‘Jamunia’ on the channel. These two emotive back-to-back sagas will trace the journey of two young girls Kashi and Jamunia. The launch of both of the shows was to celebrate the International Women’s Day last week. They will air from Monday – Friday at 8.00 pm and at 8.30 pm respectively. Produced by Film Farm India Pvt Ltd, ‘Kashi’ is set in a remote village in Bihar called Dholkipur and depicts the life of a seven-year-old girl called Kashi, who dreams of going to school. However, this dream is met with stiff resistance from the upper caste sections and the village elite. Jannat Zubair Rahmani will be seen essaying the title role of Kashi. On the other hand, ‘Jamunia’  produced by Beyond Dreams Entertainment Limited, is a heart rendering story of an orphan girl called Jamunia, whose maternal uncle marries her off into a rich family for money. What she does not know is that the house she is married into is cursed and no woman has ever survived there.  What happens to Jamunia forms the basic plot of this highly intriguing show. Bhavna Khatri will be seen playing the title role of Jamunia.

Model hunt

After the success of ‘Fact Universal Teen Pageant’ season 1, Rajeev Kashyap of Fact Enterprise Limited is all set to launch ‘Fact Supermodels’, a reality show on Bindaas channel this month.  Besides, the company has already started preparations for season 2 of the ‘Fact Universal Teen Pageant’. Auditions will begin in April. Says Kashyap, “Top sixteen contestants of the first season have already signed their respective contracts to do our films. The first two, to go on the floors will be ‘Tiara’, a suspense thriller and ‘Real Story’, a horror flick.” He also adds that besides the contestants, the company also plans  to rope in Bollywood celebs for these projects.  

Showcasing social evil

After the pathbreaking show ‘Balika Vadhu’, producer Sunjoy Wadhwa of Sphere Origins, writers Purnendu Shekhar and Gajra Kottary as well as director Siddharth Sengupta have a show on offer — ‘Godh Bharaai’ on Sony TV. The show talks about the social evil — the ostracism faced by a childless woman in society. Ajay Bhalwankar, Head of Programming, Sony Entertainment Television said, “The show brings to light certain social prejudices that still continue to exist in our society.”  ‘Godh Bharaai airs on Sony TV from Monday to Thursday at 7.30 pm.
