Flamboyant and fashionable

The fest kicked off with Sumana Vedanth, a member of faculty, invoking the blessings of God by singing a prayer. Post this, Priyanka Chandrashekar presented an invocation dance — Ganesha Vandana in kathak form. The guests Fr Dr Abraham, the pro-vice chancellor; Rahul Matthan, the founding partner of Trilegal; and Fr Benny Thomas, the director; lit the lamp and wished great success to the students.

The much-awaited cultural evening commenced with a well-synchronised performance by the Christ Law Choir. The Indian dance team, consisting of Priyanka, Nisha, Aditi N, Aditi R, Jasmine, Rajitha and Aathira, gave a flamboyant performance on foot-tapping Bollywood numbers.

The Western music team comprising Shameer, Abhishek and Lubomir set the stage on fire by rendering various pop songs. Later, the theatre team presented a play, which showcased the hidden talents of the students and heralded a message about setting a goal in life effectively.

A three-girl team presented a semi-classical, Bollywood piece to the song of Woh Kisna Hai. Dressed up in bright, red-coloured ghagra choli, the performers ruled the stage. The band Shloka, that started off with Western numbers also presented an Indian classical and Western fusion, gave a truly mind-blowing performance.

Following this, a band comprising Dominic, Aditi Balan and Raaghvi left the audience spell-bound with yet another Bollywood number. After this, the band Saaz rendered popular songs from My Name Is Khan along with other Bollywood numbers. Up next, was an exhilarating Western performance to the latest foot-tapping numbers. The show ended with an instrumental solo by Prakrit Shreshta who received a standing ovation from the audience at large.

The prize distribution ceremony was also held to acknowledge the winners of the various sports, literary, art and cultural competitions of Juristar 2010.
First year students — Vishal Shrinivas and Ankitha Brijet were declared as Mr and Ms Juristar of the Year.
