It was work that brought software professional, Aman Bathla and his wife Sajal to the city eight years ago. Although, Aman has visited Bengaluru, a couple of times before he moved here, he says he always found the city and its people very warm and welcoming.

The couple have lived in Delhi for most part of their life. Sajal was born in Amritsar but lived in Rohini in Delhi since she was three years old.  Aman was born in Delhi and spent most of his growing-up years in Karol Bagh and Jasola in South Delhi before relocating here.

Aman says that he didn’t have second thoughts about moving here. “The challenging IT job opportunities and the technical job ecosystem brought me here,” says Aman. It took a few months for Sajal to settle into the right kind of job.  “Being a software professional, Bengaluru was the natural choice for Aman but being a marketing professional, it took me a while to find the right kind of job,” says Sajal.

The couple say that they like to call the city “their home” and don’t want to think about going back to Delhi. Apart from the jobs of their preference, they have also  found the right circle of friends here.  “We have a good circle of friends here. My friends consist of people from all walks of life and different cultures which in itself is unique. This kind of mix is difficult to get in Delhi where you always tend to make friends with those who are from the northern part of India” says Sajal.  “I have found some inspiring people to work with. It took us a little time to knit together our circle but now we have a neat mix of people from different cultures and professions,” adds Aman.

The couple enjoy South Indian food and don’t shy away from trying out different kinds of cuisines in the city.  The couple point out that the gastronomical experiences offered by the city adds to its charm.  “We have our favourite joints and we frequent them. Aman is very fond of Mexican food and I devour Italian dishes,” says Sajal.

“I love experimenting with my food and I’ve tried some of world’s best cuisines here. I also find the fusion-food culture extremely enticing,” he adds.  The couple loves moving around the city quite a bit and find Phoenix and VR Mall, Indiranagar, Church Street and  Commercial Street, ideal places to hang out. However, the only challenge is getting stuck in traffic. “Traffic is one of biggest challenges here but it is the same scenario in every other metro. The traffic really tests our patience sometimes. But I think, the traffic here is better managed than it is in a lot of other cities,” says Aman. Sajal pitches in, “The traffic situation has slightly improved and I now see a lot of traffic personnel along the route that I travel on. They do a  good job of ensuring a smooth traffic flow.”  Sajal and Aman find the pace of life here very relaxing and a productive one. “The city offers you multiple options from choosing your lifestyle and selecting work spaces,” he says. Sajal also admits that she finds living here less stressful when compared to Delhi.
