Cyclone Vardah: M'luru-Chennai trains cancelled

As cyclone Vardah that hit Tamil Nadu on Monday has left a devastating trail, Southern Railways has cancelled some of the trains between Mangaluru and Chennai on Tuesday.

It has also delayed the departure of and diverted trains on some other routes.

Cancelled trains

According to a release, the following trains were cancelled on Tuesday: Train Number 16525 Kanyakumari-KSR Bengaluru City Express, scheduled to leave Kanyakumari; Train Number 06051 Chennai Egmore-Kollam Special; Train Number 12686 Mangaluru-Chennai Superfast which was scheduled to leave from Chennai Central; Train Number 22638 Mangaluru-Chennai West Coast Express and Train Number 16603 Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram Maveli Express, both scheduled to leave from Mangaluru Central station.

Train Number 13352 Alapuzha-Dhanbad/Bokaro Express, which was scheduled to leave Alapuzha, has been diverted to Katpadi, Melpakkam and Renigunta and will not touch Chennai Central.

Train Number 22648 Thiruvananthapuram-Korba Express, which was scheduled to leave Thiruvananthapuram Central, has also been diverted to Katpadi, Melpakkam and Renigunta and will not touch Chennai Central.

The following trains were rescheduled: Train Number 12623 Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram Mail, which was scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 7.45 pm on Monday, departed at 9.30 pm the same day.

Train Number 12601 Chennai-Mangaluru Mail, which was scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 8.20 pm, left at 10 pm. Train Number 22639 Chennai-Alapuzha Express, scheduled at 8.45 pm from Chennai Central, departed at 10.30 pm.

Train Number 12511 Gorakhpur-Thiruvananthapuram Express, which left Gorakhpur on Monday, has been diverted to Renigunta and Melpakkam and will not touch Chennai Central, the release added.
