Rs 17 lakh for development of mosques, says MLA Ningaiah

MLA B B Ningaiah said that Rs 17 lakh has been earmarked for providing infrastructure to mosques.

He was speaking after initiating the work on the construction of protective walls at Handaguli and Krishnapur mosques. The MLA said that, out of the Rs 17 lakh MLA fund, Rs three lakh is earmarked for the development works at the Handaguli and Krishnapur mosques. A grant of of Rs 14 lakh is provided for the development of nine mosques in the taluk in the current year.

He said that steps have been taken to ensure that there is no drinking water shortage in the taluk, but there is a need to conserve water.

Taluk Panchayat member Ranjan Ajit Kumar said that basic facilities have been provided at Kittalegandi and other mosques. The grants will be procured in a due course for the other mosques.

JD(S) minority unit taluk president Zakaria Zakir said that more grants have been provided for the development of mosques in the last three years.

JD(S) district vice president D R Umapathigowda, minority unit members Aziz, Rizwan, Mohammed were present.
