A private company employee from Bengaluru, who was on a picnic, drowned in River Cauvery near Balamuri, in the taluk on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Shivakumar (27), a native of Bangarpet in Kolar district and a resident of Bengaluru. It is said that Shivakumar, along with seven of his friends, had come to Balamuri for a picnic.
According to an eyewitness, Shivakumar slipped into the water and drowned. His friends’ effort to save him provide futile. The KRS police have registered a case.
