Two accused in the AgustaWestland chopper case on Wednesday got bail with the court saying that no purpose would be served by keeping them in custody.

Both Sanjeev Tyagi, cousin of former Air chief S P Tyagi, and lawyer Gautam Khaitan were granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh each and a  surety of the like amount.

The court asked them not to tamper with evidence or influence witnesses.

Sanjeev and Khaitan along with Tyagi were sent to judicial custody after being in CBI custody since December 9.

Tyagi and others was arrested on December 9 in the over Rs 3,700 crore deal involving UK-based AgustaWestland, a subsidiary of Italian firm Finmeccanica, in which around Rs 462 crore was given as bribe.

On December 26, the former air chief had got bail in the case with the court saying the CBI had failed to find out when the bribe was given to him.

However, CBI sources continue to claim that the former air chief is one of the key players in the scam. Investigators claim that Tyagi had bought agriculture land by giving cash and he did not inform the government about it.
