Woman kills 4-year-old daughter, commits suicide

A woman committed suicide after killing her daughter at her house in Girinagar T Block on Saturday.

The police said Thenmulli, 38, an employee of a pharmaceutical company, hanged her daughter Sridevi, 4, with a saree from the window grill. Later she committed suicide by hanging from the same window grill. The incident came to light when her husband Vijay returned home from work.

Around 8 pm, Vijay knocked on the door but there was no response. He peeped through the window and found his wife and daughter hanging. He alerted his neighbours, who broke open the door and found them dead. The Girinagar police were called. Thenmulli has left behind a death note stating that she was unable to bear the harassment by her husband and in-laws, police said. The couple, hailing from Tamil Nadu, had married around five years ago, added the police. Vijay has been picked up for questioning and a case has been registered.
