Irshad Khan, 34, who is accused of “faking” the molestation of his burqa-wearing sister-in-law in KG Halli on Friday morning, was remanded in seven-day police custody on Monday.
Police sought his custody, saying he had “faked” the incident to mislead them and misuse the law.
Meanwhile, police have chosen not to book the woman for the time being as she could challenge it in court. Still, they informed the court about her role in the fake molestation case and sought permission to file a case against her.
“We will take legal opinion and go by the court’s direction to take action against the woman for filing a false complaint,” Hemant Nimbalkar, Additional Commissioner of Police (East), said.
