2 youths held for stealing fancy bikes to do stunts

Two youths, who were passionate about fast bikes and performing stunts, were arrested recently for stealing nine­ high-end motorbikes.

The Mico Layout police arrested Prajwal, 19, a resident of Basapur in Electronics City and Jaman Shariff, 21, a resident of Subhash Nagar in Electronics City. The police have recovered nine bikes, all worth of Rs 16 lakh.

The two were unemployed and took part in bike stunts as a pastime. They used to make away with high-end bikes like KTM Duke after a recce and by using duplicate keys. Local people who found them performing stunts on NICE road frequently, informed the police. The two youths, who were picked up by the police for questioning, confessed to have used stolen bikes to perform stunts and to go on long rides, said the police.

They would do wheelies and post thier pictures on Facebook and other social media websites. They would use the stolen bikes for a while and later abandon them in deserted areas. They had also given away a couple of bikes to their friends. Prajwal was previously arrested by the Tilak Nagar police in a mobile theft case and was also an accused in a theft case registered in HSR Layout police station, the police said.
