Paper Boat puts paper in its boat

Last Updated 14 January 2017, 17:41 IST

Paper Boat, a brand name synonymous with nostalgia and memories, has embarked on an illustrative marketing journey of its own.

The company, which had earlier re-published Three Men in a Boat, Jungle Book and Ramayana as a part of its marketing campaigns, has launched its first original publication Half Pants, Full Pants by Anand Suspi. Being the company’s maiden commercial venture in the publishing space, the book is available on Flipkart.

Talking about the company’s foray into the publishing space, the company’s Head of Marketing Parvesh Debuka said, “Childhood memories is at the core of any initiative at Paper Boat. For most of us, libraries played a major role in shaping our childhood and adolesence. Books were an essential means of information and entertainment.

And, here we wanted to strike a chord with our audience,” adding, “Initially, we published popular books and distributed them alongside our drinks, but, after the third book, we realised that we were getting enough traction and therefore, to take the committment forward, we thought of publishing a new author and that is when ‘Half Pants, Full Pants’ happened.”

Riding high on the response it has generated in the first week of the book’s launch, Debuka said that the company will look at publishing its next by April or May. “The theme of innocence will remain key to all our work, and we love illustration. So we may work on putting these things together,” he added.

2017 launches

Come Holi, the company is set to launch Thandai, as part of its seasonal in-and-out strategy for products. Further, it will also launch one-litre packs of its popular drinks including Aamras and Anar by February-end. Just this month, the company also maked its foray in the snacks space with its take on chikki, India’s much-loved jaggery-groundnut delight. “We are planning more products in the snacks space as well. We may experiment with variants of chikki, while aam papad is also in the pipeline” he said.
